SNOWTASTROPHE 2011
Today, as promised, it snowed in Johnsonville. Not only that, it settled on the ground (my car is still covered as I type this at 8:15 pm).
Here are some pictures COMMENT YOU BASTARDS, JUST HIT THE LINK AND TYPE WHAT YOU THINK.
We got a bit excited when it started to snow, so took pictures of what appear to only be rain:
Get bent, there's totally snow in that picture!
It got a bit heavier (always seems a funny word for snow), so now it just looks like I chucked some bits of paper in front of the camera:
Still, it started to settle:

Uncle HUUURRRRRR in the background:
This ponga tree doesn't know WTF:
Telephoto shot out to the motorway makes it look like Siberia:
Barns and I went for a walk around J'ville. Safer Communities Together:
This snowboarder was having minimal success, but definitely the right idea:
Betty's kindergarten. Starting to get a bit of an unintentional tilt-shift effect due to all the water on the lens:
This thing kills me to death in the dry, christ knows why I tried it in the snow:
Ella's school:

just a lil' bit jealous of the snow from up here in the winterless north!
That is awesome Edward - poor lil' Ponga tree! Do ya reackon school will be called off tomorrow? (bet the teachers are crossing their fingers!).
i was sceptical about snow in nz actually being proper snow but it certainly looks like a decent dump (is that the right word, sounds a bit rude), I wonder if there will still be snow on the ground the next day. It must be crazy weather for it to snow in Wellington.
cool blog!
acording to the nz herald this is the only time it has snowed in wellington in fourty years!!!!!!! :$
Exciting ah? My garden was totally white.
Totally about the weather Ed and really great to read and see the snaps esp of the Hurrrfamily.
Wow! Looks incredible!!
Goddamn. We had "snow" up here... a bit of sleet. Useless. Although, could see snow on the top of Maungatautari from our office. Chuuuur.
Way too cool :) Looks like all three kids in the household had lots of fun, especially the really big one!
Bugger! missed it... well at least I brought a cold/flu back to the hot land (hurr, hack)
the snowboarder shot appears to have gloved fingers slightly blocking the lens - more of that please. Blog now reads of a kiwis first winter in London...
how long did the snow last then - long enough to turn into grey sludge or did it melt?
Love how it kinda dry brushes ordinary things to look amazing - like the flax outside of Ella's school.
